Healing with the Angels
Article by Sarah Alexander written for Natural Health Magazine
We all have angels with us all of the time. Regardless of our religion, faith, character or lifestyle, our angels remain with us throughout our lifetime. They are with us to assist, guide and heal and can help us with any aspect of our lives. Their aim is to bring us peace. By being peaceful, each of us contributes ultimately to peace on earth. To receive angelic assistance, large or small, all we have to do is ask.
The word ‘angel’ is derived from the Greek word ‘angeloi’, meaning ‘messenger’ – and angels are messengers from God. The Bible contains many references to angels as messengers, in the Old Testament, where the angels help the Jews in their struggle for freedom, and in the New Testament, where St Luke describes Angel Gabriel’s annunciation of Christ’s coming to Mary. Hebrew literature also describes the love and grace angels confer on humanity and the Hebrew word for angel is Mal-ach. The Koran also describes Angel Gabriel carrying Mohammed up to heaven and dictating the entire Koran to him. Angels are prominent within the Koran and other sacred Islamic texts. So, the three main religions, therefore, have ordained and blessed the presence of angels as our helpers.
Two influential thinkers, Emanuel Swedenborg and Rudolph Steiner, helped shift our awareness of angels from a religious to a humanistic view. Swedenborg, an 18th-century Swedish philosopher, had a profound mystical experience in which he was taken into the realms of heaven. He describes the perfect love, peace and harmony of the angelic kingdom he witnessed. Rudolph Steiner, a 19th-century German scientist and philosopher, studied all forms of esoteric sciences and had a deep understanding of angels. Steiner wrote in “The Spiritual Hierarchies” about how angels communicate with us and how we can develop our senses to receive the celestial messages. Steiner believed that we need to develop our intuition and imagination to receive the angels’ messages as they are channelled to us through the right side of our brain.
So, how can we enlist our angels’ help in improving our health?
Here are three simple steps:
Step One: Ask for their help
Our angels are happy to help us with anything, but we do have to ask. By universal law they cannot intervene for us unless it concerns a life or death situation. This asking can just be a thought: “Angels, please help me with….” or “God, please help me with….” We can say it out loud or within our minds. In your mind’s eye, surrounding a situation, a person or yourself with white light will invoke the angels’ assistance or a green light which will bring healing energies specifically.
Having requested the angels’ help with a certain problem, it is important now to be able to let it go in the absolute knowledge that your requests will be answered. Answers will come to you in such an easy, natural way that you may often think you're simply making it up. Deep in your gut, though, you will know intuitively and undeniably that your much-needed guidance has arrived.
Step Two: Listen for your angels’ messages
As Rudolph Steiner suggested, angels communicate with us through our intuition. This works best when we are relaxed, open and receptive. If you try to hear the angels’ messages, the strength of your effort actually diminishes your ability to do so. Striving and trying makes us tighten and takes us out of the receptive state needed to hear intuitive guidance.
Repetition is a defining characteristic of angelic guidance: angels will repeat it over and over again until we hear it and act upon it.
Angels speak to us in four main ways:
Clairvoyance, meaning clear seeing, is the ability to receive mental images, both in your mind's eye and in the world around you. Clairvoyance embraces the imagery that comes during dreams, meditation and simple relaxation. These images are the angels showing us visions of what is right and possible for us.
Visual guidance may also come as things we are drawn to, or which seem to leap out: a sign, a slogan, a newspaper headline, a book, a magazine bought on impulse. One or more of these visual tweaks to your attention can turn out to give you all the information you need to answer your prayer. All such visual messages (and indeed all messages) will be accompanied by an intuitive feeling of rightness: "Yes, that's the answer I need."
Clairsentience, meaning clear feeling, is the ability to feel your angels' messages through your body and emotions. People who are very oriented to their feelings can easily pick up what others feel: they can sense the mood in a room and the intrinsic energy of a place. If you sense in this way, you will always receive guidance through those perfectly aptly-named gut feelings. Your feelings about something are literally your answers to your questions about it.
Excitement and passion will draw us towards people and activities that are meant for us; feelings of heaviness and constriction will warn us about those that are not.
Clairaudience, meaning clear hearing, is the ability to hear the still, quiet voice of your angels, as well as auditory messages from the world around you that you are specifically meant to hear. Hearing the voice of an angel whispering to you means that you have attained the quietness of mind necessary for this. More often, you will pick up auditory messages by overhearing conversations, by receiving earthly guidance (requested or not!) from other people, or even by hearing yourself give "guidance" to others. Turning on the television or radio often results in your hearing something that was "meant" for your ears. As noted above, these messages will be accompanied by that intuitive feeling of rightness.
Claircognizance, or clear knowing, is the ability to receive answers directly into your mind through ideas and thoughts that just come “out of the blue". We don’t even know how we know these kinds of things. People to whom this form of guidance comes easily are naturally intelligent thinkers who like to analyse, think things through and consider all options before making a decision.
All angelic guidance will be positive, empowering and for the highest good of all. When you take the recommended steps, it always feels good and right and you know intuitively that you are acting in alignment with your higher purpose.
People often expect a great flash of lightning and an instantaneous healing of the problem when they ask angels for help. Although instantaneous healing's can indeed happen, the healing is usually reached by a step-by-step journey to the end result that we want. These steps may suggest a change of diet, particularly to a more healthy diet; an increase in exercise and time spent outside in nature; taking up yoga or some form of meditation, or more time spent relaxing and focusing on your own needs. The guidance may guide you to a brilliant therapist, a perfect book to read that gives you exactly the information that you need, or a friend who has successfully dealt with a similar problem; or you may be “guided” to make radical changes in your lifestyle and habits of thinking.
Step Three: Take action on your guidance
When you sense that you are being repetitively urged to do something, it is very important that you take the action suggested. You may be guided to do very simple things that seem like common sense to you. The important thing is that you act upon guidance immediately. This guidance is the step-by-step method that your angels are using to co-create your goal of health and vitality. And all you have to do is listen and follow their advice!
Archangels are the overseers of the angelic realms. They are more powerful than angels and can be called upon whenever you feel a greater power is needed. Archangel Raphael is the archangel who specialises in healing us both emotionally and physically. He can be called upon directly to bring his healing light and love to any situation.
Here is a short meditation that you can do at any time which invokes Archangel Raphael’s energies to bring you any kind of physical healing that you need. As with all meditations, do them in a quiet, comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed and allow yourself to relax into the experience. If your mind wanders, which it will, just gently bring it back to the meditation:
- Close your eyes and focus on your breath, bringing your breath all the way down to your abdomen so you can feel your abdomen gently expanding and contracting with your breath. This “full” breath is very important because when we are breathing fully our angels can imbue us with their healing energies and transmit their guidance to us.
- Feel your feet flat on the floor so you remain grounded throughout.
- Allow your body to relax with your breath and let your mind feel this sense of relaxation too.
- Call upon the Archangel Raphael, sensing him respond immediately to your call. You may feel heat or a pressure change around you or a tingling or sense of goose bumps on your skin. Ask him to come to you and fill you with his healing energies.
- See yourself being surrounded by a beautiful emerald green light which gradually fills your entire body from head to toes. Continue to breathe deeply.
- Imagine now that you direct this emerald green light to the specific area of your body that needs healing. You might imagine that the light grows in intensity as it fills the area and as it does so, it brings a cleansing, a feeling of rejuvenation, a re-balancing and a healing to that area.
- Spend some quiet time just sitting with this light.
- When you feel the light start to dissipate, return your awareness to your full breath and slowly open your eyes and come back into the room.
After your meditation notice any thoughts you have about the problem and write them down. Ideas may come to you immediately or over the next few hours or days that will help you heal this issue.
